Savanna
PROCESS:I saved the base painting I used for Savanna, as well as the
painting I used for Seahorse, in a roll for 10 years. They were
made by my children and me, huddled around an easel in our kitchen so many years ago. They’ve been stored under my bed,
in my closet, in the attic, moved from location to location as time passed. I couldn’t throw them away, but it wasn’t until I started reworking them in January 2026 that I had a clear
plan for them.
It’s been very tender to revisit this roll - or timecapsule - and discover gestures, texture and imagery to build on the energy
and expression embodied here, and once, in the small hands that made them.
